Internship Program
Welcome to Acumen Therapeutics' Internship Program! Our agency is committed to providing high-quality mental health services to our community, and we believe in investing in the next generation of mental health professionals. Our internship program offers valuable hands-on experience, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Program Objectives
Hands-On Experience
Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with clients under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals. This hands-on experience will allow interns to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

Professional Development
Interns will participate in regular training sessions, case discussions, and workshops aimed at enhancing their clinical skills, cultural competence, and understanding of ethical considerations in mental health practice.

Mentorship
Each intern will be paired with a licensed supervisor who will provide guidance, feedback, and support throughout the internship experience. Our supervisors are dedicated to helping interns succeed and grow as mental health professionals.
Community Engagement
Interns will have the opportunity to participate in community outreach initiatives, educational workshops, and collaborative projects aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues and reducing stigma.
Program Components
Clinical Placements: Interns will be placed in various clinical settings within our agency, including outpatient clinics and community-based programs. They will work with clients of diverse backgrounds and presenting concerns, under the supervision of licensed professionals.
Supervision and Training: Interns will receive regular individual and group supervision from licensed clinicians. They will also participate in ongoing training sessions covering topics such as therapeutic techniques, assessment tools, and cultural competence.
Professional Development Activities: Interns will have the opportunity to attend seminars, workshops, and conferences related to mental health practice. They will also be encouraged to pursue additional training and certifications to enhance their skills and credentials.
Research and Program Evaluation: Interns will have the opportunity to participate in research projects and program evaluation activities aimed at improving the effectiveness of our services and advancing the field of mental health.
Community Engagement: Interns will engage with the community through outreach events, educational workshops, and collaborative projects with local organizations. They will also have the opportunity to participate in advocacy efforts aimed at promoting mental health awareness and social change.
Eligibility Requirements
Education:
Interns must be enrolled in an accredited graduate program in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.

Availability:
Interns must be able to commit to a minimum of 10-15 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Professionalism:
Interns must adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards of conduct at all times.
​
Flexibility:
Interns must be willing to work early evenings as needed, depending on the demands of their placement.
Cultural Competence:
Interns must demonstrate respect for diversity and a willingness to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.

1. Application: Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and transcripts to info@myacumentherapy.com during our enrollment period. May 1st, 2024 - May 31st, 2024

2. Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an interview with members of our internship selection committee.
3. References: Candidates may be asked to provide references from academic and professional sources.
4. Background Check: All interns must undergo a criminal background check.
